This is a live course with a scheduled training day, rather than a set of videos to watch in your own time. Your instructor explains the process, demonstrates the checks and supervises your practical work using the tester you have with you.
The format can suit people who already have a PAT tester and want to learn to use it, or who prefer to attend remotely. No previous electrical qualification or PAT testing experience is required. You do need the equipment and space to participate in the practical exercises.

After passing, your digital Skills Training Group PAT testing certificate is emailed within one working day. It records your training and assessment and has no fixed expiry date. We recommend refresher training every three years.
This is a provider-issued PAT training certificate, not a regulated City & Guilds qualification. If an employer, customer or insurer has specified a particular qualification, check their requirement before booking.

Yes. You must have a PAT tester available before attending and use it for the practical exercises and assessment. You cannot complete the course by watching demonstrations alone. If you do not have a tester, consider a classroom course where equipment is supplied.

You need an internet-connected laptop, computer or tablet and access to a printer. A smartphone may be needed to position the camera so the instructor can see your practical work. Ask the team about the setup and any documents to print before your session.
Tell the team before booking so they can discuss the joining process and any learning or access requirements. The course includes explanations, demonstrations and guided practice, with time to ask questions. You do not need previous electrical training.
The price is £174 including VAT (£145 excluding VAT) per learner. It includes live instructor-led training, assessment and a digital certificate after passing. Your PAT tester, internet connection and equipment for attending remotely are not supplied.
Assessment includes a supervised practical exercise and a short multiple-choice knowledge check. You demonstrate safe inspection and testing, correct use of the tester and an understanding of the results. The practical work during the course gives you an opportunity to develop these skills before assessment.
Your digital certificate is emailed within one working day of successfully completing the course and assessment. Check that your learner name and email address are correct when booking. If it has not arrived after that time, check your spam folder and contact the team.

The certificate has no fixed expiry date. We recommend refresher training every three years to keep your knowledge current. An employer or client may set its own refresher requirement. This is separate from how often individual appliances should be inspected or tested.
Yes. A private Zoom course accommodates up to eight learners for £834 including VAT (£695 excluding VAT). Learners need access to PAT testers for the practical work. Tell us your group size and preferred dates so we can discuss the setup and availability.
